About Omni Search Labs
Omni Search Labs was not founded by career agency executives or junior designers who learned SEO from an online video course. It was built by a business owner who started in 1997 with a simple commercial challenge: the phone needed to ring. Across five independent companies, founder Chris Sheehy learned search architecture, web platforms, Google Ads, and technical analytics out of operational necessity.
OSL is the institutionalization of that thirty-year playbook.
We spent decades proving what actually drives commercial revenue using our own capital and our own risk. OSL brings that exact discipline to regional businesses across Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts. We evaluate your digital presence through the lens of a balance sheet: marketing must generate more revenue than it consumes. We do not care about retainer justification. We care about whether your phone rings, whether qualified leads enter your pipeline, and whether your business commands the search visibility it deserves.
When your website stalls, throwing more money at the agency that built it rarely solves the problem. OSL provides an independent, senior-level alternative built on direct accountability.
Experience Pays Dividends: The 30-Year Trajectory
Search platforms evolve constantly, but commercial fundamentals do not. Chris Sheehy has executed search optimization since 1997, before Google was incorporated and search was a Stanford research project called BackRub. He managed Google Ads at its initial United States rollout in the early 2000s and engineered systems using IBM Watson AI in 2018, five years before generative AI became mainstream.
That longitudinal perspective is built directly into how Omni Search Labs operates today:
- Commercial Roots (1997 and Earlier): Over a decade spent running companies in the automotive and insurance sectors, including an independent appraisal firm and regional oversight of dozens of franchise locations. This is where the OSL standard was forged: reading a P&L, cutting unnecessary overhead, and focusing exclusively on revenue-producing assets.
- Building the Playbook (1997 to 2009): Engineering search systems from the ground up, including founding and exiting CollisionVision, a specialized vertical search engine for the automotive collision repair industry.
- Proving the Model at Scale (2009 to 2022): Founded Sidewalk Branding Co., scaling it into an award-winning regional search and digital marketing firm with clients that spanned industries across the globe (see the list). Earned Top Web Development Firm recognition from Providence Business News and Top Startup in New England honors from Mass High Tech, culminating in a 2022 acquire-to-hire transaction with Brave River Solutions.
- Enterprise Leadership (2022 to 2025): Directed digital services for regional and national accounts, leading SEO, PPC, and AI discovery initiatives. Recognized in 2025 with the Rhode Island Tech10 Award, the first recipient ever selected from the search engine optimization industry.
- Omni Search Labs (2025 to Present): Established OSL as a specialized, senior-led studio. Search strategy and web development operate in concert, delivered directly by experienced business owners with eighty years of combined technical craft. No account coordinators, no junior ticketing queues, and no disconnected strategists.

Beyond Client Work
Omni Search Labs maintains an active commitment to the regional small business community. Chris Sheehy serves as a mentor through the Small Business Administration and Start-Up RI, building on years of volunteer service as a Subject Matter Expert with SCORE Rhode Island and the RI Small Business Development Center.
Locally, that commitment extends to hands-on trade advocacy: administering auto repair certification exams with I-CAR, ensuring trade professionals can advance regardless of administrative or language barriers, and conducting pro bono digital audits for regional non-profits through United Way Rhode Island.
Beyond the Screen
OSL is rooted in Rhode Island. When we are not auditing site architecture or optimizing structured data for AI search discovery, you will find us immersed in hands-on mechanics: rebuilding classic carburetors, hand-filing mating surfaces in the garage, road-testing a Sunfire Yellow 1968 Slant-6 Barracuda, debating authentic New Haven apizza versus Providence grilled pizza, or enjoying classic Rhode Island staples from Colt State Park to local seafood spots across the bay.
Real-world mechanics teach you the same lesson as web architecture: respect the machinery, diagnose the root cause, and do the job right the first time.
Frequently Asked Questions
Direct facts about our operational model, founder involvement, and engagement standards.
What makes Omni Search Labs different from other Rhode Island agencies?
Most agencies treat search optimization as an afterthought to keep an ongoing retainer active, quietly passing your account down to junior coordinators. At Omni Search Labs, search architecture, AI discovery, and performance web engineering are our core disciplines. You work directly with senior business owners with decades of hands-on craft, ensuring direct accountability on every deliverable.
How does your experience with AI search help my business?
AI search engines like ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews do not rank web pages using simple keyword density. They synthesize answers by evaluating structured entity data, technical crawlability, and authoritative citations. We format your digital presence using our EQUATE framework, ensuring these engines recognize your firm as the trusted authority to recommend.
What happens during our first conversation?
We spend thirty minutes reviewing your current digital visibility using our diagnostic tools. We show you where your business is winning, where you are invisible, and what specific bottlenecks are restricting phone calls and qualified inquiries. There is zero high-pressure sales talk, zero confusing jargon, and no surprise invoice on the other side of the call.
